kicking
After the coin toss the team that was chosen to punt has to punt to the other team. A player has to catch the ball from the punt and run it back as far as the player can. When he gets tackled the downs start. After you make a touchdown you do a field goal. You know what a field goal is because we mentioned it in a other post.

The Coin Toss
Before each football game the coach sends 3 players from each team to go meet the ref on the middle of the field for something called the coin toss. The state that the team is visiting gets to pick heads or tails on the coin toss. So if the team that is visiting gets what they picked ( heads or tails ) gets to choose if they want to kick or receive the ball. but if the team that got to choose heads or tails does not get what they want, the other team gets to choose to receive or kick the ball .

places on the field
At the end of each field there is a something called a touchdown zone where you or the other team tries to score. The in zones are at the end of the field. In the middle of the field there is the 50 yard line, it goes up 49 to the 1 yard line, and and same thing with down, the 1 yard line is where the touchdown zone is.It goes 1st down on the first play, 2nd down on the 2nd play, 3rd down on the 3rd play, and 4th down on the 4th play. After 4th down the other team gets the ball. The only way to get another 1st down is to get a certain amount of yards. After you score you have a chance to kick a field goal. A field goal is behind the touchdown zone. If you kick it through the field goal you get a point. Oh wait! I forgot! If someone drops the ball it is called a fumble. If the other team gets the ball from the fumble it is a 1st down.
